Dear Friend of CORCRC, Thanks to dynamic community participation, the Reproductive Rights Road Show stop in Colorado Springs resulted in discussions confirming the importance of comprehensive sex education in the public schools and the need for access to the full range of reproductive health care services. This community is experiencing significant changes as the citizenry becomes more engaged in political action and challenges the status quo! Colorado Springs has our attention.  Legislation Update On March 27th, the House Judiciary Committee defeated HB18-1206, on a 7-4 vote. This deeply offensive bill would have used religious exemption to discriminate against LGBTQ Coloradans and their families in nearly every facet of their lives. Dear Friend of CORCRC, CORCRC and the Interfaith Alliance joined forces to advocate on Women and Families on Wednesday.  This advocacy effort is coordinated by 9 to 5.  The color teal and our dedicated defense of  women’s reproductive rights identified and bound us.  Discussions with legislators focused on urging legislators to defeat HB 18-1206(see Legislative Updates).  Senator Betty Boyd and Executive Director Joyce Lisbin spoke with Representative Terri Carver in the Lobby who is supportive of HB18 1206.  There is still time to contact her (Terri.Carverhouse@state.co.us) to let her know that this bill is offensive to many people of faith. Dear Friend of CORCRC, The status of Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPC’s) is being challenged in the Supreme Court case NIFLA v. Becerra. California’s Reproductive Freedom, Accountability, Comprehensive Care, and Transparency (FACT) Act assures the public that anyone who claims they provide medical advice and/or medical care is held to a high standard of honesty and professionalism; and makes sure women receive accurate information about their full range of options and programs related to pregnancy and family planning. In the era of fake news, this case challenges false advertising and the provision of false and inaccurate medical information. Learn more about this important case.    Legislation Update Board Chair Betty Boyd testified in House Judiciary Committee in support of HB 18-1256 to continue the Colorado Civil Rights Division and Commission for 9 years. ...

Dear Friend of CORCRC, LOBBY DAY: If you were there, you know it was a big success. Scores of advocates reached out to legislators to make our presence felt and our voices heard. We spoke to legislators about three bills: urging our elected representatives to vote against HB18-1206- the so-called Live and Let Live Act, to vote in favor of reauthorization of the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD) and to vote in favor of HB18-1001: Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI). While we were sharing our stories and explaining our positions, the FAMLI Act was passed out of the finance committee and continues its journey through the process. CHEERS to all who did the work to keep this Act thriving so that paid leave will become a reality for Coloradans. More good...

Dear Friend of CORCRC, SUCCESS!! Thanks to a strident coordinated effort by all of the members of the CO Reproductive Rights Health and Justice Coalition two anti-choice bills (HB18#1082 & HB18#1225) were defeated last week and another two (HB18-1120  Prohibition of Dismemberment Abortions and HB18 1121 – No Funding Trafficking Aborted Human Body Parts) just yesterday.  Read the stirring testimony by Pastor Greg Garland by clicking on this link. CORCRC is proud and pleased to be a part of this effective coalition.  Below are a few photos from the fiery and passionate press conference that preceded last weeks committee hearings. The defeated bills were an insult to all women and the dedicated family planning medical professionals. None of the proposals did anything to promote women’s health or well being.  Though our success is...
