Blog: News Update - January 25, 2018

Dear Friend of CORCRC,

Positive energy was in the air on January 20th. Millions of women around the world marched in unity. It is clear that the women’s agenda has made its way to the front page and that’s where it will stay. CORCRC was proud to be part of the joyful crowd in Denver.

Legislation Update

At this time, we are aware of several bills that could challenge the reproductive rights of women in Colorado. Be prepared to participate in actions to defeat these bills as they are presented. CORCRC will alert you as these bills are put on committee calendars.

Keep your eye on:

HB 18-1004 – Continue Child Care Income Tax Credit for a Qualifying Contribution to Promote Child Care in the state.
The bill extends the tax credit through 2025. The bill will be heard in House Finance Committee on Monday, January 29th at 1:30 pm.

Senate Bill 18-013 – Expand Child Nutrition School Lunch Protection Act.
The bill extends the program to 8th graders (current limit is 5th grade). The bill will be heard in Senate Education Committee on Thursday, January 25th at 1:30 pm.

HB 18-1001 FAMLI – Creates family and medical leave insurance program for paid family leave in Colorado.
House sponsors are Reps. Winter and Gray, Senate sponsor is Sen. Donovan. The bill will be heard on Tuesday, February 6th in House Business Affairs and Labor Committee at 1:30 pm.
Pre session polling is strong for this long overdue bill. A press conference and rally will take place on February 5th at 12:30 at the Capitol.
