Statement on Shooting in Charleston, South Carolina

by corcrc-admin
The Colorado Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (CORCRC) extends prayers to families and loved ones of the victims of yesterdays massacre in South Carolina. The CORCRC mourns the loss of innocent victims of hate and senseless violence.
The following prayer is offered by The Rev. Jann Halloran
Prairie Unitarian Universalist Church and CORCRC Board President
Creative and Loving Spirit,
Be with us in this time of anger,
bewilderment and grief.
May each dear heart lost be long held in our memory:
Rev. Clementa Pinckney
Tywanza Sanders
Cynthia Hurd
Sharonda Coleman-Singleton
Rev. Depayne Middleton
Doctor Susie Jackson
Ethel Lance
Rev. Daniel Simmons
Sr. Myra Thompson
May they each be remembered as sojourners of courage and peace,
and may their courage and generosity of spirit help filter out hate.
May hate find no place in any community of love,
And may this love work to drive out evil and terrorism.
May love guide us and move us toward a unity that would help us see the beauty within every heart.
Teach us to love our neighbors and to see within them the divine,
a holy spirit that would make us all one beyond all the ways we create to divide the human family.
Teach us to be stronger and better in our love.
Teach us to love one another and to stand with all our brothers and sisters in our times of mourning.
May we each be inspired and empowered to ever seek this vision of beloved community,
which the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. described so well,
never giving up even in our most hopeless hour, never turning back,
never taking our eyes from the vision of an all-loving God. Amen Blessings, Jann
